And after Congress refused to repeal the Affordable Care Act, something Trump lobbied for hard, Trump then pivoted and changed the subject to the NFL and whether taking a knee during the national anthem was worthy of players being fired. [...] If geopolitics didn’t get people’s attention, how about animals? In a directive last week, Trump administration officials rolled back the Endangered Species Act to essentially allow loggers to clear land as long as the sole intent wasn’t to hurt endangered species.
Next, the White House announces that Trump will meet, in person, for the first time, the new leader of Venezuela after the US government captured and arrested the previous leader of the country. [...] If there is one thing that President Trump has demonstrated an expert level of competence at during his 11 years in national politics, it might be that very phrase. (It’s a quote from the “Mad Men” fictional TV character Don Draper, not a political philosopher.)
The onslaught of news from the White House on all types of topics in the past week appears to be Trump’s latest attempt to do just that.
